Biography

I trained in medicine in Manchester, qualifying in 2003. After junior doctor jobs in medicine, surgery and accident & emergency around the UK I spent two years as Regimental Medical Officer to a cavalry regiment in Germany. Following this I chose a career in anaesthesia, training in the West Midlands, Wessex region and Great Ormond Street Hospital, and obtaining my fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2012. I was appointed as a consultant anaesthetist to the Defence Medical Services in February 2016. My NHS practice is at Southampton General Hospital. I have deployed on two operational tours of Iraq and more recently deployed with a field hospital to Oman. I am a passionate skier and sailor and have been lucky enough during my military career to have represented my unit in alpine ski races and completed a rounding of Cape Horn by yacht. Away from all this I enjoy running, cycling and cooking, but nothing gives me more pleasure than just spending time with my family.
